Kent Bernard is a 17-year-old juvenile delinquent who had been living in the streets in dystopian Goldsboro, North Carolina for three years. Nova Vega is a country comprised of the Thirteen Original Colonies that was once part of the United States of America. After spending a day in jail, he was punished by his father for stealing and running away from home. The only support are his younger sister Gabriella, his stepmother Hestia, his dog Rosy, and his friend and partner in crime Cali.

After school, he saved the life of 15-year-old Phoebe Truman, who had a concealed secret that would threaten all of Nova Vegan society: She’s a Pasdúnamis, a supernatural-powered individual capable of possessing more than one power. Insecure and shy, Phoebe’s only support were her older brother Ferenc, her cat Beet, and her friends Seifer, Mark, Valeda, and Asteria.

One day, after Kent and Phoebe formed a group called the Aurora, with his younger cousin Riley included, the secret of her Dúnamis status is out. Fighting for their lives, the country of Nova Vega is no longer safe for them. As their battle against the corrupt Nova Vegan Government and its secret police, the Aurora will learn new secrets kept hidden from the place they called home for over a century.

The Aurora must battle their way to escape outside the walls that isolate Nova Vega, or fall into the hands of their enemies.
